My grandfather was a distinguished and elegant gentleman. He died in 1940. Bearing his father 's  name, my father inherited this beautifully crafted 18 ct gold watch. My father  has also passed away and now I  am entrusted with this precious piece.

Using my macro lens I did not  zoom in on little, creepy crawly things living in the present but rather pay homage to a thing of beauty created in the past.

This picture is a small tribute born out of tremendous respect and admiration for the craftsmanship of yesteryear.

The timing and turning of these small wheels and cogs  - so beautifully mirrored in the gold cover plate  stopped their motion when my grandfather died. But time did not.

Time today, in fact flies! And one day when my time comes, this exquisitely crafted watch will be passed onto my son.

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable. (T S Eliot)
I bought my first computer in 1991. After three months I fell in love with her. (Having a motherboard makes a computer feminine) For three years we had a loving relationship until one day I was told: She has to be replaced, she is old, slow and outdated. Getting rid of her was not an option. I ceremoniously and lovingly dismantled her; carefully sorted all the beautiful delicate cards, and placed them in a  "maybe box"- (Maybe I will someday do something with this.) I replaced my first love and  had a loving relationship with my second lover until one day ...... The story just repeats itself and keeps on doing so. Not only do I have to replace computers on a regular basis but also scanners and printers. Technology surely travels in the fast lane.

Early one morning I woke up with an idea: build a totem - in dedication to technology.
RA was conceived! It was hard work turning an idea into reality. It also was great fun.
But that is another story for another day.

This colorful picture is a minute detail of the CPU card of one of my old computers.
It was early dawn on on Easter Sunday 2007 -
Walking in quiet contemplation. along a desolate beach - Zilze, Australia
the revelation lasted a few seconds
 the memory remains for ever.
